Basic Information On Engine Diesel Parts
Coolant Filter – Many diesel engine problems have to do with the cooling system. Some have a coolant filter to control the acidity level of the coolant and reduce the likelihood of corrosive particles building up inside the engine block.
Coolant Hoses – Coolant hoses should be checked frequently to ensure they aren’t loose or worn. Having additional spare coolant hoses is highly recommended.
Gaskets – Gaskets should be carefully monitored because they work under extreme operating conditions. When a gasket starts to leak, all of them should be replaced since the others will likely start leaking soon as well.
Mounting Bolts – Mounting bolts should be re-torqued regularly due to engine vibrations causing them to loosen.
Engine Filter Element – The engine filter element is likely to become dirty and worn often, which means they need replacements. Diesel engines use a lot of air when running, although the filter is not easy to see. To ensure the problem doesn’t go unnoticed, it’s recommended to use an air filter indicator near the air filter to tell them when the filter is becoming dirty.
Oil Filter – The proper oil filter is a necessity for all diesel engines. Because sulfur and carbon are created when diesel is burning, an oil filter is needed to prevent corrosive contaminants from entering the engine’s fuel.
Fuel Filters – Some diesels use two different types of fuel filters to ensure there is no build-up of moisture in the engine. Some fuel tanks have breather vents that allow condensation to escape. They should be checked to ensure that they are not blocked up.
